Google Pixel × KPN × Rijksmuseum AI Art Competition, 2026
Artist. AR creator.
Spatial designer. International DJ.
Sarah Main's practice combines large-scale painting, augmented reality, and sound design. Each physical work carries a custom digital layer: an animation with composed audio that activates when a smart device is pointed at the canvas.
The experience is authored specifically for each piece and permanently integrated into the work. She also performs internationally as a house DJ, a practice that directly informs her approach to sound design and live experiential events.

Sarah Main grew up in Australia and studied fine arts at Sydney University before relocating to Ibiza in 1999, where she built a career as a professional DJ, including a residency at Pacha. Her move into full-time artistic practice brought together everything she had developed across painting, music, and performance.
Today she works with luxury hotels, private collectors, and international exhibitions across Europe and the United States. Recent projects include an art residency at Mondrian Ibiza, a 32-piece installation at Amàre Beach Hotel Ibiza, and a multi-sensory cultural residency at The Goodtime Hotel Miami during Art Week 2025.
In 2025, she was selected as one of 20 artists from 763 international entries to exhibit at the Rijksmuseum (2026) in the Google Pixel × KPN × Rijksmuseum AI Art Competition.

How AR turns passive decoration into guest experiences that get shared and remembered.

After being selected for the Rijksmuseum AI art competition, here's what I actually think about AI in creative practice.

14 years at Pacha Ibiza taught me how to read a room. That skill translates directly into spatial art design.
